Course Summary

This course is designed to give delegates an awareness and understanding of Safeguarding & Protecting Vulnerable Adults and vulnerable groups. It also enables delegates to recognise and identify the signs and indicators of abuse. It also addresses the issues faced by people working with these adults who may suspect abuse it taking place.

What will I learn?

Course Content:

  • Identify who are vulnerable and why they are vulnerable individually and collectively as a group.
  • Explain what abuse is and identify the different types of abuse.
  • Describe what Significant Harm means.
  • List the different pieces of legislation relevant to adult protection and safeguarding Vulnerable Groups.
  • Explore and discuss some recent case studies that illustrate adult abuse and the recommendations from the reports carried out as a result of abuse.
  • Describe the meaning of ‘Duty of Care, to protect’ and explain what their role and responsibilities are in relation to safeguarding.
  • Explore the process/action to be taken in relation to disclosing and reporting allegations of abuse.
  • Discuss the POVA register and the importance of sharing information with regards to suspicions of abuse.

This course is designed for anyone who works within the care sector or who has a duty of care to vulnerable adults they care for.
