Course Summary

This half day course in Diabetes awareness which is designed to assist the individual develop an understanding in diabetes. With almost 2 million diabetics in the UK and another million undiagnosed this is something that affects a large number of people, either as diabetics or carers.

What will I learn?

Course content:

  • The course starts with an exercise to help clear up some misconceptions about diabetes
  • Understanding what diabetes is and the effects it has on a diabetic
  • Symptoms of diabetes and how to recognise them
  • Causes of diabetes
  • Who is at risk from developing diabetes
  • Treatment for diabetes
  • Hypoglycaemia
  • Hyperglycaemia
  • Ketoacidosis
  • Neuropathy and how to look for the signs of it
  • Diabetes care
  • Diet

The course is completed with a 20 question multiple choice exam paper.
