Course Summary
This half day course in Diabetes awareness which is designed to assist the individual develop an understanding in diabetes. With almost 2 million diabetics in the UK and another million undiagnosed this is something that affects a large number of people, either as diabetics or carers.
What will I learn?
Course content:
- The course starts with an exercise to help clear up some misconceptions about diabetes
- Understanding what diabetes is and the effects it has on a diabetic
- Symptoms of diabetes and how to recognise them
- Causes of diabetes
- Who is at risk from developing diabetes
- Treatment for diabetes
- Hypoglycaemia
- Hyperglycaemia
- Ketoacidosis
- Neuropathy and how to look for the signs of it
- Diabetes care
- Diet
The course is completed with a 20 question multiple choice exam paper.
