Course Summary
This is the new qualification commencing Sept 2010. This workbased qualification will enable you to work as a qualified member of staff in various settings. This qualification (depending upon the pathway chosen) will qualify you to work with 0-19 years.
There are 3 pathways; Early Learning and Childcare Pathway, Children & Young Peoples' Social Care Pathway and Learning and Development Services Pathways.
Although the Level 4 Children's Care, Learning and Development Course has expired, the new diploma has been designed to incorporate managerial units if your job role supports this.

Why choose this course?
To progress in your chosen career path, the Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce, will give you confidence with hands-on experience and prior knowledge.
A learning programme is being planned to cater for the diverse needs of the workforce, whilst maintaining a quality programme.
What will I learn?
Throughout the course, you will learn to implement the skills required to fullfill a supervisory role.
Development of the 0-19 years will underpin every unit covered and provide support for assessment and planning.
The knowledge and skills being learned in classes, will be consolidated when carrying out daily tasks and activities in the workplace.
Evidence will be generated through direct observation from a qualified assessor, work products, reflective accounts, witness testimonies, assignments and professional discussion.
What are the entry requirements?
Employed for a min 16 hours per week in the setting according to the pathway chosen, e.g. early years setting, foster carer
GCSE's or equivalent (A-C) English and Maths.
What will you achieve?
On completion of this course, you will be qualified to work in a supervisory capacity, according to current OFSTED guidelines.
Where can I go next?
The progression route from the early years pathway is the Foundation Degree.

How long is the course?
Approx 12 months. Blended learning available, with regular work shop sessions and Assessor support.
