Course Summary
In order to enrol onto the apprenticeship programmes students must be employed in the IT industry
The IT apprenticeship programme recognises a practitioner's skills in the workplace by verifying their competence in their role. Candidates are visited regularly at their place of work by a qualified trainer who carries out assessments of their ability
Why choose this course?
This course is suitable for people who are currently using technical IT skills in their day to day work, and wish to gain formal accreditation and recognition of their level of skill
What will I learn?
The course aims to assess and verify a candidate's competence in their role at level 2 or level 3. Many of the skills required will be acquired by shadowing and existing practitioner.
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in IT Professional and Telecoms
Technical Certificate (Level 2 or 3)
Functional Skills Certificates in English and Maths

What are the entry requirements?
For level 3 apprenticeships, candidates must have achieved Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy.
In addition, given the practical nature of the qualification, and the methods of assessment, candidates must be employed in an IT position carrying out day to day duties relevant to the qualification
What will you achieve?
An advanced Apprenticeship is equivalent to achieving a full level 3 qualification (i.e. 3 A levels)
Where can I go next?
Candidates may wish to further consolidate their knowledge by undertaking additional technician specific training, such as CompTIA or CISCO certification.
On completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship you may the opportunity to progress onto a Foundation Degree in IT and Computing.
What facilities do we have?
Most of the work for an ITQ is carried out at your place of employment, where you will be visited regularly by a skilled assessor

How long is the course?
There is no specific timescale for completing the Apprenticeship Programme. The apprenticeship takes from 12-15 months and the Advance Apprenticeship takes up to 24 months
