Course Summary

This level 4 award is a fantastic introduction in to the role of a teacher or trainer in the Lifelong Learning Sector. It will introduce many of the core topics required to be a qualified trainer or teacher and the course ends with a short micro teaching activity.

Embedded within the course is Unit 1 of the Level 3 Assessor Award - Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment which is a knowledge award for those who are new to assessing.

Why choose this course?

The award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector at Level 4 provides the basic minimum standard for all those entering the teaching, learning and development profession from September 2007. The award is appropriate for teachers, tutors and trainers who may be working within an FE college, Adult and Community Learning Centre or Learning Provider and for those delivering work based training such as within voluntary, community, private and public organisations.

What will I learn?

Roles and responsibilites, teaching and learning approaches, session planning, inclusive and motivational delivery techniques, assessment and record keeping.

What are the entry requirements?

Hold a relevant vocational / academic qualification of at least the level above that of their learners and ideally a minimum level 3 qualification in a subject specialism.  GCSE in English and Maths to grade C or above or an equivalent level 2.
