Course Summary

This level 4 certificate is taught over 30 weeks. During this time you will receive specialist guidance on how to become a qualified teacher in the lifelong learning sector. This qualification is mapped to LLUK standards and upon successful completion you will be eligible for associate teacher status (ATLS).

Why choose this course?

The certificate is designed for those already in an associate teaching role, or intending to enter the profession in that role. The certificate is appropriate for teachers, tutors and trainers who may be working within an FE college, Adult and Community Learning Centre or Learning Provider and for those delivering work based training such as within voluntary, community, private and public organisations.

What will I learn?

The mandatory units cover Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (embedded Level 4), Planning and Enabling Learning (Level 4) and Principles and Practices of Assesment (Level 4).
 
The final optional unit is Equality and Diversity (Level 3).

What are the entry requirements?

  • Hold a relevant vocational and / or academic qualification of at least the level above that of their learners and at least a minimum Level 3 qualification in a subject specialism.
  • A minimum of 30 hours teaching practice
  • PTLLS Level 3 / 4  
  • A suitable CRB check

It is desirable for candidates to have a degree or relevant professional qualification.
