The goal of Digital Literacy is to teach and assess basic computer concepts and skills so that people can use computer technology in everyday life to develop new social and economic opportunities for themselves, their families, and their communities.
Whether you are entirely new to computing or have some experience, this curriculum will help you develop a fundamental understanding of computers. From using the Internet, to sending e-mail, to creating a CV, the Digital Literacy Curriculum helps you develop the essential skills you need to begin computing with confidence.

What will I learn?

The first part of the course teaches absolute beginners to computing what a valuable tool computers can be in society today, and the basics of using the mouse and the keyboard, using interactive, hands-on lessons.

The second stage teaches geneal ICT skills using simulations from Windows 7 and the 2010 Microsoft Office suite.

In the final stage, you will learn how to create and use an internet e-mail acoount

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements for this introductory level course

What will you achieve?

Successful completion of the course will prepare the student for Microsoft's Digital Literacy Certificate Test

Where can I go next?

Completion of the course will give those new to Personal Computers the skills to use a PC confidently and effectively. Once this experience has been consolidated, students may wish to consider the Microsoft Office Specialist course, where expert skills in the use of Office applications, such as Word and Excel, will be developed

Students will have access to fully equipped PC suites, and lessons will be delivered using a blend of tutor led classes and on-line materials with hands-on simulations
