Course Summary
This qualification is open to all learners who have an interest in learning how to organise an event as well as those who are preparing to work, or who are already working in any job role which may involve organising an event. It aims to provide the learner with a good understanding of the nature of the event industry, as well as the practical skills and knowledge required to plan a small scale event.

What will I learn?
The aims of this qualification are to enable learners to develop:
? An understanding of the different types of events
? Skills required to plan a successful event
? An understanding of all aspects of organising an event such as resource requirements, constraints and contingencies and health safety and security issues
? An understanding of why and how events are evaluated and what tools can be used to evaluate
? Events
? Transferable vocational skills such as planning, organisational skills and teamworking
What are the entry requirements?
There is no specific prior knowledge needed by learners, but it is expected that learners will have a general standard of education to at least Level 1.
This qualification is suitable for those seeking employment in the event industry, and for those already in employment, wishing to further develop their knowledge and understanding.
It also acts as an enhancement to a full-time programme or for those with a general interest in event planning, eg in preparation for a wedding.

Where can I go next?
Completion of this qualification will provide you with the knowledge and understanding to be
able to progress into employment in the events industry and to consider a wide range of employment roles. These include, for example, a Hotel Conference and Banqueting Coordinator, Conference and Business Meetings Coordinator or a Wedding Planner.
This qualification also provides underpinning knowledge, which may be developed further to progress to an NVQ in Events at level 2.
This qualification provides the opportunity for you to progress to other qualifications, such as:
EDI Level 3 Certificate in Organising Conferences, Leisure or Hospitality events
EDI Level 3 Certificate in Event Management
