What are Apprenticeships?

Apprenticeships are available in a range of occupational areas for 16 to 24* year old employees.

Apprenticeships will enable your employees to achieve National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) through on-the-job training. Apprentices will also spend time at college to work on key skills and technical certificates.

All apprentices receive expert and impartial information, advice and guidance from the Oldham College before they begin on the programme and a full induction, tutorial and learner support whilst on the programme.

How can Apprenticeships help your company?

Apprenticeships are an excellent way of developing your existing employees, providing them with practical skills relevant to their job role within your company. The structure used to deliver the training has been developed by employers to ensure that the apprenticeship is relevant and appropriate to your business needs.

In addition to delivering apprenticeships to your current employees, our free recruitment service could also assist with finding the right person for your vacancy. This service includes:

  •     Taking a detailed job description
  •     Short-listing suitable candidates for your vacancy
  •     Arranging interviews

You are under no obligation to hire candidates put forward, if you feel they are not suitable.

Apprenticeships attract capable, well motivated people who see work based training as the next step leading to a career, in short, excellent employees.

How much will the Apprenticeships cost your company?

The Apprenticeship scheme is fully funded.  There is no charge, however, your company will pay the apprentice a salary and support their commitment to training by allowing them time to attend college.
