Matthew has the skills to sweeten Sugar
You’re hired! One Oldham apprentice would give Alan Sugar’s entrepreneurs a run for their money after reaching a final.
Matthew Smith (19) is celebrating after being named a finalist in the Greater Manchester leg of the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) North-West Learner Awards.
Highway Maintenance Apprenticeships
The Oldham College more than met our expectations, they surpassed the other providers we were looking at.
Everything has gone well this year. We are recruiting again for the new year with Oldham College. I am hoping that it will continue in the same way.
I have talked to the gangs and the apprentices are doing well, they are getting a good idea of what is going on on a construction site. The college work is relevant and has helped them. You can see the improvement in the apprentices, I feel they will be able to work under their own initiative during the second year.
Any issues that have arisen, the support is there to help out. The apprentices know what they are doing and what is expected of them.
I would certainly recommend the college to other councils, without a doubt.
