Taking on an Apprentice or having one of your existing staff become an Apprentice can be highly beneficial to your business. An Apprentice is usually someone aged 16-24, however Adult Apprenticeships are now becoming increasingly popular. Funding is available for this highly regarded programme which usually takes between 18-24 months to complete at Intermediate level.

With a qualified Apprentice you will get someone who has the practical skills and knowledge to work effectively, who has demonstrated a commitment to professional development, and
someone who sees themselves in a career rather than ‘just a job’
The Oldham College trains over 600 Apprentices with 350 employers, we have excellent success rates, and high satisfaction levels from both the employer and apprentice.

Train to Gain

Train to Gain logo

Train to Gain is about qualifying your workforce. For our economy to compete with the rest of the world we need a highly skilled, knowledgeable, qualified workforce. A third of the UK’s employees have no qualifications for the job they are in, seven million adults do not have a basic standard of literacy or numeracy. Train to Gain offers funding to employers to up-skill and qualify their staff at NVQ level 2/3 or in the Essential skills of literacy and numeracy.

The Oldham College trained and qualified over 1500 employees last year, all delivered in the workplace with an 82% achievement rate. This year 550 employers have already taken advantage of Train to Gain.

Why should your organisation take up this offer of funded training?

  • A more confident and motivated workforce
  • Increased productivity
  • Staff able to multi-task Increased loyalty and improved retention rates
  • Qualified employees that meet industry requirements and
    regulations.

European Social Funding

The Oldham College has access to ESF money to benefit local businesses and the community. The money is usually limited and available for a short period of time. At this moment we have funding for leadership and management training at NVQ 4.

We are able to offer these highly valued courses at a heavily subsidised rate, for businesses that employ less than 50 people.

Recruitment and Redundancy Training

The College has also secured ESF funding to support employers recruitment and also for those who reluctantly have to make people redundant.

We are able to offer employers funding to support training staff they wish to recruit and then once in work to support them in further training.

For those employers making redundancies we can offer opportunities for staff to be re-skilled or up-skilled. This will enable the affected staff to have a better chance of finding work.

Customised Training

What many employers don’t realise is that the College is able to design and deliver training tailored to an individual organisation’s needs.

This training can be accredited or unaccredited, delivered at College or in the workplace, at flexible times, and through different delivery styles.

The College not only has experienced staff with a proven track record, but also a wide range of partners and associates who are able to deliver bespoke, relevant and cost effective training for your employees.

A Consultant or Curriculum Manager will discuss your requirements face to face. They will then present you with a training proposal which will clearly identify a training solution for you, how this will be delivered, and what costs are involved. Throughout the training we will review the training with you to ensure it is meeting your requirements and making a real impact on your business.
